IMPACT & MISSION STATEMENT

Energy

  • The Dorsey is 3.1% more energy efficient than the current Florida Energy Code requirement.
  • The Dorsey employs very energy efficient lighting fixtures at an average of .3Watts per SF of building.
  • All amenities and common areas feature sensors as well as occupancy dimming to reduce energy use throughout the building.
  • During construction, materials were recycled or salvaged to divert over 50% of construction waste away from the landfills.
  • Thermal bypass inspections were conducted during construction to ensure a tight energy efficient building envelope.
  • Energy Star refrigerators and dishwashers are included in every home.

Water Efficiency and Conservation

  • 88% of the plants and trees planted at The Dorsey are drought-tolerant and include soil moisture sensors to reduce water irrigation needs and promote water conservation.
  • All lavatory faucets, shower heads and toilets are low flow to further reduce potable water use in the building.

Health Residential Environment

  • Smoke free building, smoking is prohibited throughout the community
  • Reduced smoke exposure and transfer
  • 100% of occupants enjoy increased comfort through access to daylight and outside views from each unit.

Healthy Site

  • Covered bike storage is available to residents to promote alternative forms of transportation.
  • On-site electric car charging stations are available to residents.
  • Low emitting fuel parking spaces reserved for fuel efficient vehicles
  • To aid in reducing the heat island effect of site development and vertical construction, the Dorsey was developed with over 48% light exterior surfaces, underbuilding parking, and a white roof.
